Way back in the 1700's a taxation was imposed on malted barley , Irish Whiskey makers started to blend barley with other grain to avoid or at least reduce the tax bill! Original blending used 70% malted barely and 30% grain over time blending has evolved and oftentimes more and more grain is added reducing the quantity of the premium malted barely in the whiskey. IrishAmerican Classic blend follows traditional blending using 70% malted barley (rather than using more of the much cheaper grain). The blend is double distilled in copper pot stills (no need for triple distillation with such high quality ingredients) is non- chill filtered for maximum flavour and matured in first fill ex American bourbon casks to ensure real smoothness. Our expert master distiller blends in a little 10 year Old Single Malt, to make it really special. This is why our IrishAmerican Classic blend is such a premium tasting product, it is a rich & vibrant whiskey, aromatic with a hint of spices.
