G.D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba is a young red wine made by the G.D. Vajra Italian winery with the Dolcetto variety in the DOC Dolcetto d'Alba (Piedmont).
In 1972 G.D. Vajra revived cultivation in his family’s vineyards lying in the highest part of Piedmont, in the town of Vergne. He began making his own wines characterised by the freshness and fragrance provided by the altitude. These are wines that defend the natural expression of the land and that are made with meticulous detail.
Following local tradition, G.D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba is made with grapes planted in the best exposed areas. These vines have an average age of 25 years old and lie at 400 metres above sea level. They are known for taking a long time to ripen. Environmentally friendly agriculture is used, strain yield is limited and the harvest is carried out manually.
In the winery, the grapes used to make G.D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba are selected and gently pressed. They then ferment for about 15 days. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for a short time in stainless steel tanks before being bottled.
G.D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba is a tribute to one of the most characteristic Piedmont varieties. A pure, vibrant and fruity expression of the Dolcetto.
