Hennessy's VSOP originated from a request by the future King Georges IV of England, back in 1817, for a Very Superior Old Pale brandy. Taking up the regal challenge, Hennessy blended approximately 60 different eaux-de-vie (brandies) from the four most notorious growing regions of cognac, and Hennessy VSOP was born.
V.S.O.P is slowly matured in old barrels from which most of the tannin has been extracted. A delicate blend of wood notes and spices, punctuated by the scent of cloves and cinnamon. Discreet, subtle and harmonious, it is characterized by a the fragrance of honey and a suggestion of liquorice.
